About Me
I am most happy when scuba diving, which I have done for my entire adult life, but I also enjoy kayaking, hiking, cycling and yoga. I’m passionate about conservation and have been a volunteer on three international marine conservation programmes. I also love trying my hand at wildlife photography.
I’m named after a character in a book by Britain’s first nature writer, Richard Jefferies, and I am an honorary patron of the Richard Jefferies Museum.
I obtained a first-class business degree from Swansea University and was awarded its business prize. I was subsequently awarded a PhD in Management Science for commercially sponsored research on the UK recycling sector and barriers to market growth. I am a Chartered Environmentalist (MCIWM, CEnv) and a Fellow of the RSA.
In 2022, I was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration by the University of the West of England, recognising ‘leadership in sustainability’. In 2025, I was given life membership of the Soil Association, to recognise my ‘advocacy for climate, nature and health’. I was also included in Grant Thornton’s Faces of a Vibrant Economy in 2018, the Big Issue’s list of Changemakers in 2020, and the Raconteur 50 in 2024.
